Anne-Marie Jacobs is a former human rights lawyer who now sculpts stunning textured ceramics inspired by aerial photographs of Mersea Island, where she lives. The pots she creates mirror the colours and patterns of the Essex salt marshes and coastline; she aims to convey at once the strength and the fragility of these environments.
She says, "My political, environmental soap box is made of clay but I am not a scientist or a campaigner, I simply want to share my enthusiasm. I take my work seriously but I am not serious minded about it. The work comes from a sense of joy and play."
