Edward Bawden CBE, RA

Edward Bawden, 1903-1989, one of the Bardfield Artists, was a master of the art of drawing for the lino block. His large-scale linocuts relied of his "power of... finding the basic characteristics of any subject."

He designed and produced wallpapers with John Aldridge, crockery for Wedgwood, fabric for Heals, and posters for London Transport.

At the Festival of Britain he decorated the Lion and the Unicorn Pavilion. His work is held in national museums.
